Happy Easter and Happy Passover to those celebrating! Although these are less than ordinary times, we still hope you are able to find some way to make these days special. With that said, we wanted to continue highlighting the good works that amazing individuals are doing in the world so we can shine a light on positive accomplishments to combat the negative news that seems to pervade our channels during these times. This week, we want you to meet Cassandra Ciarallo, the founder of Chic Made Consciously who was also inspired to start her amazing intiative through a chance encounter.

How did Chic Made Consciously begin?

In the summer of 2014, Cassandra traveled across South East Asia, pursuing her passion of immersing with different cultures and exploring the world. She became inspired and fascinated by the art, culture, and lifestyle in Asia, especially Bali, Indonesia. One of her favourite cities in Bali was Ubud, where artisans, craftsmen, and painters filled the streets. As she came across a shop called 'Oh Waste', she met Dana, an artisan who was upcycling accessories from tire inner tubes. She fell in love with his magnificent work and was so inspired by Dana's passion to make a change in his homeland and give waste a new life. It sparked a fire inside of her and she eagerly wanted to be a part of this movement. Since 2016, Cassandra has been working with the team at ArtCycle Bali to distribute their handcrafted accessories to the North American market and she designed her first collection in 2017. Cassandra has also collaborated with other global artisans around the world who are repurposing unique materials such as brass from war remnants and textile waste in Cambodia.

By offering fashionable and sustainable accessories that make a difference in the lives of our global artisan partners as well as repurposed to help our planet, we are letting people know there is a different way to do business.

What are your favourite products/most popular this year?

Our collection launched fall 2019 has been a hit moving into 2020 with our mesh scarf and fringe belt. It is perfect for festival season or any outfit you want to bring to life!

Cassandra loves building relationships with global artisans who are finding creative ways to repurpose waste and she is continually expanding her collection by collaborating with even more awesome experts around the world.
